B Lab released new standards for B Corp Certification in April 2025. Within these standards, there are seven Impact Topics used to measure a company’s positive impact and, through recertification, continuous impact improvement. This guide focuses on the Fair Work Impact Topic, which is about building workplaces where all workers feel valued, heard, and empowered. Businesses that prioritize fair work create environments where workers thrive — and when workers thrive, companies do as well.
While worker priorities and concerns vary by industry and location, fair pay and reasonable, clearly defined job expectations are universal worker concerns. Companies that prioritize worker feedback and measure workplace culture create pathways to address issues unique to each business. Companies with transparent communication channels and a positive culture realize a vision for stakeholder governance in the workplace and create a shared sense of purpose. At its core, Fair Work is about recognizing that people are a company’s greatest asset.
